Moose Hunting - antlersMoose Hunting in Central British Columbia

We hunt moose between September 10 and October 30. Earlier moose hunts are usually fly-in, by float plane from Stewart's Lodge on Nimpo Lake. A thirty minute flight in a de Haviland Beaver puts you at our camp on McClinchy Lake - or one of the other seven large lakes in the area. Moose hunting is done using horses, foot travel and boats, at elevations to 6,000 ft.

Toward the end of September, the moose rut begins and the bulls get active, moving down from the mountains. We shift our focus to our lower camps on McClinchy Creek, Charlotte Lake, and the Cowboy Lake basin at elevations around 5,000 ft. The rut takes place the last week in September and first two weeks in October. Antler size can be expected to be in the mid thirty's to mid forty inch range but occasionally we take moose with antlers in the 50 inch range.

There will be only two hunters in any camp. All hunts are for the full number of days represented.
